Robert Elliot Fox


Robert Elliot Fox is Professor of English and Africana Studies at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He was educated at Cornell, Berkeley, and the State University of New York at Buffalo. From 1978 to 1985, he taught at the University of Ife in Nigeria. The author of two scholarly books—Conscientious Sorcerers (1987) and Masters of the Drum (1995)—Fox has been a visiting scholar at the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African American Research at Harvard University, the recipient of a senior fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies, and a USIA-sponsored lecturer in India.
